Tame Yaks?

What are yaks like?

I am captivated by yaks. I am in a position to be able to have any kind of animal on my ranch. I choose the yak. I get to spend a little time with my yaks every day. Not just to feed or water them but to BE with them. One of the best experiences of my day is when my yaks hug me back. Yes, yaks know how to hug. Don’t believe that? Come to visit my ranch and I will show you. You may even get a hug yourself.

Yaks love human attention if, and only if, they are treated right. Often, the American way is fast and furious. Head ’em up, move ‘em out works for cattle, but yaks are different. It takes a working relationship to have a good experience with yaks. Try to “push a yak around” and you will soon no longer be working with yaks. Yaks know and understand respect. Mutual respect works with yaks. They are smart.

I advertise that I have tame yaks. Yaks are like people……there are some really nice ones and some really nasty ones. It depends on how they are treated. When a seller says that they have a “tame” yak, it is very important to learn what they mean. Some think that a yak is tame if you can feed it a treat through a fence and live to tell about it. Some think that if you can touch the yak then you can say that it is tame. If you wish to purchase a few yaks it is always important to visit the yak ranch to see first hand what the yaks are like.

Yaks are like most animals, if you don’t train them…..they will train and control you. Yaks are powerful and intimidating to look at but on the inside they are as sweet as can be. Come sit with me in my herd and watch them test each other in their “pecking order”. They train each other and learn where they stand. Then watch them clean and care for each other. It is amazing to watch them. They are “herd” animals. They need each other. Come see how you can become a part of the herd.

Come visit my ranch. I love showing them off and watching the visitors be as amazed as I am with these sweet and wonderful yaks. Play the video below to see just how tame a herd can be.
